We are seeking a detail-oriented Purchasing Coordinator/Junior Buyer to join our team on a 3-month contract to support coverage for an employee on intermittent leave. This role has potential for extension or conversion based on business needs. We are located in Irvine, California
This position plays a key role in ensuring timely procurement, order management, and vendor coordination across a high-volume SKU environment.
Compensation & Schedule
Pay Rate: $27-$32/hour
Duration: 3 months (with potential extension or conversion)
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM- this is a remote position.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and monitor a shared procurement email inbox, ensuring timely review and delegation of requests, vendor responses, and updates
Process purchase orders and acknowledgments using Microsoft Dynamics (2016)
Send order confirmations and shipment notifications to vendors
Track and follow up on orders using ERP reports and automated tracking tools
Maintain inventory levels by reviewing out-of-stock and replenishment reports
Coordinate with established national and international vendors
Respond to internal requests from sales teams and external inquiries in a timely manner
Prioritize and execute orders based on sales team direction and inventory needs
Manage a product catalog of approximately 3,500 SKUs, with daily focus on 25-30 active items
Support priority allocation decisions, including rare cases tied to Defense Priority Allocation System (DPAS) requirements
Daily Workflow
Review shared inbox for incoming requests, changes, and vendor communications
Follow up on late orders and monitor automated ERP reports
Process order acknowledgments and confirm shipments
Place new purchase orders based on replenishment needs and inventory levels
Address incoming sales and external requests, ensuring visibility and responsiveness
Prioritize urgent orders and repeat workflow cycles throughout the day
Qualifications
2-4 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain coordination
Experience working with ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics preferred)
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
Excellent communication and follow-up skills
Ability to work independently in a remote environment
Experience supporting high-volume SKU environments preferred
Additional Information
No RFQ experience required (pricing is standardized via system price lists)
Vendor sourcing is not required; this role works with pre-established suppliers
Industry experience in manufacturing is helpful but not required
